Primosten is a beautiful little town in Croatia situated on the most attractive part of the Adriatic coast, between the famous Croatian notabilities –a town of Šibenik, Trogir and Split, and the national parks Krka and Kornati.

Primosten is a picturesque place in Croatia surrounded by 7 islands making it a hidden gem for globetrotters. You can get here on a bus from either Sibenik or Split. The town is especially known for its ancient architectural buildings and their massive vineyards. Besides the architectural history, Primosten also has a rich vibrant culture focusing on art, food, entertainment and is home to some of the best beaches in Croatia.

Primosten is known in the world for its first-class red wine Babić. You can taste Primosten wine in any restaurant in the city. In addition to growing vines, olives are also grown. Olive oil from Primosten has also the highest quality.

Hilltop 15th Century Church of St.George24

A must visit place in Primosten is the Hilltop 15th Century Church of St.George. This charming, quaint church is located up a hill in old town Primosten and also has a graveyard. From the church, you get a 360-degree spectacular view of the vast sea and the town and is excellent for catching the gorgeous sunsets. Besides the church, you can go for a walk through the pretty, narrow cobbled streets of this historic town or bicycle on the roads alongside the sea.

Raduca beach

Primosten is well known for the most famous beach called Raduca beach. The beach is an extremely long and shallow beach with more of pebbles than sand so do not leave your slippers behind. This blue flag beach is pristine, blue, clean and less crowded- everything you look for in a perfect beach!

Our Lady of Loreto viewpoint

Although the main attractions of Primosten are certainly its beaches, a 17 meters high statue of Our Lady of Loreto, the patron saint of the city of Primošten is a place that must be visited. It is located on top of 170 meters high hill Gaj above Primošten. It offers one of the best views because it is possible to see Šibenik, Rogoznica, Kornati islands, Hvar... Best time to visit this monument is late afternoon just before sunset, where you can experience one of the best and most romantic sunsets. There are 2 options to come here from Primošten. One is with the car all the way to the top, but locals recommended walking because it is an easy walk and you will enjoy in the smells of Mediterranean plants like lavender, immortelle, and rosemary...

Porat beach

Porat beach is located in a bay about ten minutes drive from the center of Primosten. What characterizes it is the beautiful view of the old town. It is also easy to avoid the crowds on this beach, and the whole is surrounded by a dense pine forest that provides excellent shade on slightly warmer days.

Garbina beach on the peninsula of the old town

One of the most beautiful beaches in Primosten is certainly the beach Garbina, which is also known as Rosi. This rocky and pebble beach is located directly on the peninsula of the old town. Pines provide you with enough shade during swimming you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Rudača peninsula. Thanks to the rocks, the Adriatic Sea shines in amazing turquoise blue shades.

Varoš beach suitable for families

Varos Beach is located not far from the historic old town. This pebble beach offers you an unforgettable view of the old town of Primosten, while you and your family enjoy a relaxing day on the beach and taste the gastronomic offer of nearby cafes and restaurants. The beach takes you to the shallow sea and is therefore especially suitable for families with virgins. Thanks to its central location along the city waterfront, you can easily walk to the beach.

Dagna beach

Another necessary recommendation for the beach is Dagna beach in the north of the city, a 15-minute walk from the old town. In addition to numerous trees, which provide you with natural shade, the pure turquoise blue sea will leave you breathless. Pebbles on the beach will follow you all the way to the sea, and if you just want to enjoy the view and relax, you can do with a refreshing drink in the beautiful Bau Bar and surround yourself with unique nature. The beach is not big, but it is far from famous tourist places, so you will not encounter a big crowd and you will have enough peace during your vacation in Croatia.

The Bucavac vineyards

The Bucavac vineyards are located about 3 km south of Primošten, and the vineyards of the famous Babić wine are grown in these vineyards. The vineyards are surrounded by unique stone walls, and in the red earth covered with stones grows the indigenous grapevine Babić, which is known for its high quality.

Nightlife in Primosten

A few kilometers south of Primosten is the famous disco club Aurora. Aurora is open during July and August. The program includes the most famous Croatian pop stars and world-famous DJs. The easiest way to get to Aurora is by car, Uber or taxi. The drive from the center of Primosten takes about 10 minutes. If you want to enjoy a quieter evening atmosphere in Primosten, you can visit any of the pubs in the city center. Many organize live concerts, usually with one or two guitarists and singers. If you like such a pastime, Primosten is the right time for you in the early evening.

Activities

There are many water activities you can indulge in Primosten such as scuba diving, snorkelling and open water diving. There is a famous diving centre called Pongo in the town which teaches and organizes open water diving courses and various other water sports here. The open water diving course is highly recommended by most tourists. Another interesting activity to try here is the eco fishing excursion. You get to experience the life of a fisherman by going on a boat and catching various kinds of fishes from the sea and grilling them right away and eating them! Primosten also has a colourful nightlife and has one of the best nightclubs in Croatia called Aurora. This club is known for some of the best parties and is frequented by a number of popular DJs. During the summer months numerous festivities are organized in Primosten, such as: Primosten habits, fishing night, folklore and Dalmatian folk music evenings.

Restaurants, shops and accommodation

There are also a number of lovely restaurants in the town serving delicious European, Mediterranean and seafood some of the popular ones of which are Restaurant Mediteran, Sari Cevi Devori and Konoba Toni. There is also a small and popular shop called Primosten Honey Shop Garcin in the town which sells some delicious honey and grappas. You should definitely not miss out on this one. The only hotel in Primosten is Hotel Zora which is a three-star hotel. However, there are many private houses, apartments and villas which provide accommodation to guests. There is also a huge camping site called Camp Adriatic where a number of people set up their camps, tents, caravans and stay there. This camp has its own supermarket, restaurant and beach and can accommodate up to 1600 guests.

Sports center

Sports center Primosten belongs to the hotel Zora, and here visitors and tourists can enjoy some of the sports activities such as tennis, basketball, volleyball or mini golf. The playgrounds are surrounded by trees, which provides pleasant shade for recreationists and athletes, and there are beaches nearby. There are also playgrounds for younger ages, so there are actually facilities for the whole family.

Daily trips

You can go on a daily trip to Split, the biggest coastal city in Croatia. This dynamic city has many cultural monuments and many cultural happening. Trogir is one historic city in which you can see a beautiful harbour and take a trip by a boat along the Trogir's Riviera. Also, you should go on a boat trip to a beautiful city, Šibenik. Travelling to National park Krka will make you discover beautiful landscape with many lakes, waterfalls and monastery Visovac, built in 15th century, placed in island Visovac in one of the lakes.
